Reopening Maternal Services at Pearl Medical Center, Uganda

About the Project

In a rural community in Uganda, there is a small community health facility called Pearl Medical Center. For many years, this center provided essential maternal and newborn care for families in the surrounding area.

Before the services were closed, the maternal ward supported approximately 20-30 births every month, helping mothers deliver their babies safely with trained assistance.

However, today the maternal services are no longer operating.

This is not because the building or equipment disappeared. In fact, most of the necessary medical equipment is still there and ready to be used.

The main challenge is the lack of funding to support qualified midwives and trained birth attendants.

Without these healthcare professionals, the maternal ward had to close, leaving many families without access to nearby safe delivery services. As a result, some mothers may be forced to give birth at home, which increases the risk of complications for both mothers and newborn babies.

Community health centers like Pearl Medical Center play a critical role in rural healthcare systems. They provide accessible care to families who may live far away from large hospitals.

Reopening this service could once again help protect the lives of mothers and newborns in the community.

Our Mission

The Quietkind Project aims to support the reopening of maternal services at Pearl Medical Center by raising awareness and connecting global supporters with community healthcare initiatives.

Our goal is to help the clinic resume maternal services by supporting:

Even small contributions can help make a difference in restoring this essential healthcare service.

Why This Matters

Safe childbirth is a basic healthcare need.

When trained birth attendants and midwives are available, the risks of complications during childbirth can be greatly reduced. Access to nearby maternal services helps ensure that mothers receive proper care before, during, and after childbirth.

By helping this small community clinic reopen its maternal ward, we can support safer births and healthier beginnings for many families.
